Hi All

This year will be the third year Sperrin Harriers hold their Winter League Trail Series. What started out as a small event on humble beginnings has grown to become one of Northern Ireland's premier trail race series.

Set in three picturesque venues within the Sperrin's of An Creggan, Drum Manor & Lough Fea, the main aim of the trail series is to provide runners with the opportunity to remain sharp over the winter months when races are not as frequent. The race dates for the series is as follows:29/10/11 An Creggan 5m19/11/11 Lough Fea 10m10/12/11 Drum Manor 10km21/01/12 An Creggan 5m04/02/12 Drum Manor 10km03/03/12 Lough Fea 10m

All races begin at 12 noon, with registrations from 11.15 am.

Cost £3 for affiliated & £4 for non-affiliated runners. A total of 6 races are organised, two 10 milers, two 10k's & two 5 milers with each runner having to complete each distance once. Their times will then be added together and the runner with the lowest cumulative time will be declared the winner. Our sponsor this year is Purvis Stone Products, Castledawson.

Your help is much appreciated in making our events the great success that they are.

Look forward to seeing you over the winter months and if you have any futher queries please get in touch or alternatively check out our website or follow us on Facebook.

I would be grateful if you could pass these on to your members and club contacts.

Kind regards

Gemma

Club Secretary

The Todds Leap ‘Norn Iron Challenge’ will take place on Sunday 4th September.  The 25km course, which has been designed to put Northern Ireland’s top off-road runners to the ultimate test, will traverse a range of challenging terrains and conditions including steep inclines and descents, man-made obstacles, water, mud, rock and grassland sections.

Launching the ‘Norn Iron Man Challenge’ Benny O’Hanlon, Managing Director, Todds Leap said –

“Extreme running is a rapidly expanding sport in Northern Ireland and we are delighted to launch this event with a £1000 prize fund.  We have put a great deal of effort in to designing the course and are confident that the topography and terrain will challenge the fitness and endurance of everyone who enters.   As with everything we do at Todds Leap, our focus on the day will be on ensuring that everyone who takes part has fun and enjoys the experience. While the top runners will each win £500, we hope to attract a large entry for both the elite and fun run races and, in doing so, be able to significantly benefit the work of Mencap”.
